Biográfico. Histórico. Miniserie de TV / SINOPSIS: Miniserie televisiva de 7 episodios de la HBO que narra la vida de uno de los padres fundadores de los Estados Unidos de América, John Adams. Comprendiendo un periodo que abarca entre 1770 y 1825, su argumento refleja, a través de los ojos del segundo presidente de Estados Unidos, John Adams, la incertidumbre que rodeó el nacimiento de Estados Unidos como país y sus 50 primeros años de vida.
 
 Se basa en la novela homónima de David McCullough, ganadora del premio Pulitzer en 2002. Está protagonizada por Paul Giamatti, nominado al Oscar al Mejor Actor de Reparto por 'Cinderella Man' y Laura Liney, nominada al Oscar a la Mejor Actriz por 'La familia Savages'. Con un presupuesto nada menos que de 100 millones de dólares, está producida por Tom Hanks (que también produjo para la HBO 'Hermanos de sangre') y dirigida por Tom Hopper ('Elizabeth I').
 
 En el primer capítulo, John Adams decide ser el abogado defensor de los soldados británicos que en 1770 protagonizaron la conocida "masacre de Boston", donde cinco civiles perdieron la vida por disparos de soldados británicos. Estos últimos pidieron a Adams que les representara, y éste aceptó aun a sabiendas de que algo así podía herir de muerte su prominente carrera política. Con el apoyo de Abigail gana el caso y es invitado a participar en el recién creado Congreso Continental. Su éxito es tan grande que tiene que despedirse de su familia para marcharse a Philadelphia. Su figura entonces creció hasta llegar a convertirse en vicepresidente de George Washington, para después sucederle en el cargo y jugar un papel primordial en el tratado de paz con los británicos.
 
 La producción ha cosechado enormes éxitos de crítica y público en Estados Unidos. consiguiendo 4 premios Emmy 2008 y 23 nominaciones. Además, la Asociación de Críticos de la Televisión de Estados Unidos le ha otorgado el galardón a la mejor miniserie.
